Buying aio liquid coolers at HodlChip

An AIO is a sealed CPU cooling loop: a pump and cold plate on the CPU, connected by tubes to a radiator with fans. It moves heat to the edge of the case and leaves the socket area clear.

  • Radiator size: 240 or 280 mm suits most gaming CPUs; 360 or 420 mm gives more headroom and lower fan speeds for 16-core and larger chips under long loads.
  • Case fit: check that your case supports the radiator size at the top or front, including the combined thickness of radiator and fans, and that the tubes reach.
  • Socket support: confirm that mounting kits for your socket (AM5, AM4, LGA 1851 or LGA 1700) are included.
  • Extras: pump-head screens and RGB look good but add cost and another piece of software.

Mount the radiator so the pump is not the highest point of the loop: a top-mounted radiator, or a front-mounted one with the tubes at the bottom, keeps air bubbles away from the pump and avoids noise and wear. AIOs need no refilling, and the warranty length is shown on each product page. To cool the CPU and graphics card together, build a custom loop instead.

Questions about aio liquid coolers

Should I buy a 240 mm or a 360 mm AIO?
A 360 mm radiator has more surface area, so it runs cooler or quieter under the same load. A 240 mm unit fits more cases and is enough for most 6- and 8-core gaming CPUs.
Where should I mount the AIO radiator?
Top-mounted as exhaust is the most common choice. Front-mounted as intake also works, with the tube end at the bottom so the pump is never the highest point. Avoid mounting the radiator below the pump.
Do AIO coolers need maintenance?
No refilling is needed, because the loop is sealed and pre-filled. Dust the radiator and fans every few months, and run the pump at the speed the manufacturer recommends, usually from a dedicated pump header.
