How crypto payment works

Updated October 30, 2026

Every price at HodlChip is set in US dollars. At checkout you choose a coin and a network, and our payment system converts your order total into an exact crypto amount at a live exchange rate. You pay from any wallet or exchange account, and your order is confirmed automatically once the network has confirmed your payment.

What you can pay with

We accept four combinations of coin and network, and nothing else: no cards, no bank transfers, no other coins and no other networks.

CoinNetworkQuote held forTypical confirmation
Bitcoin (BTC)Bitcoin, on-chainUp to 60 minutes10–60 minutes
Ether (ETH)Ethereum mainnetUp to 30 minutes1–5 minutes
Tether (USDT)TRON (TRC20)Up to 30 minutesAbout 1 minute

The exact time your quote is held is always shown on your payment page. Before sending from an exchange, check Supported coins and networks.

Paying step by step

  1. Check out as a guest. Enter your email address and shipping address and choose a shipping method. No account is needed.
  2. Choose a coin and network. Pick BTC, ETH, USDT on TRC20 or USDT on ERC20. Choose the network your wallet or exchange will actually send on.
  3. Open your payment page. It shows the exact amount to send, a deposit address created for this order only, a QR code and a countdown.
  4. Send the exact amount. Scan the QR code with your wallet, or copy the address and amount. After pasting, check the first and last characters of the address.
  5. Wait for confirmation. The payment page updates on its own as your payment is confirmed; there is no need to refresh it or to pay again. We email you when your order is confirmed.

How the rate lock works

The crypto amount on your payment page is fixed for the length of the countdown, so market moves during that time do not change what you owe. If you switch the price display to BTC, sats or ETH while browsing, the prices you see are approximate and for reference only: the amount that counts is the one on your payment page.

  • Sent a little late? We keep watching your deposit address for 30 minutes after the countdown ends. A payment broadcast in that window is still credited automatically.
  • Did not pay in time? Start a new payment from your order page. You get a new rate, a new address and a new countdown. Never send funds to the expired address.

From confirmation to shipping

A payment counts once it has the number of network confirmations our payment system requires. Typical times are 10–60 minutes for Bitcoin, 1–5 minutes for ETH and for USDT on ERC20, and about one minute for USDT on TRC20. As soon as your payment is confirmed, your order is confirmed, and in-stock items ship within 1–2 business days.

Network fees and exchange withdrawals

You pay the USD total of your order, including shipping, converted at the live rate. The network fee for sending the transaction is paid by you as the sender: it is set by your wallet or exchange and comes on top of the amount shown on the payment page.

Paying from an exchange? Many exchanges deduct their withdrawal fee from the amount you send. Make sure the amount that arrives matches the amount shown; otherwise the payment is marked as underpaid and you will need to send the difference.

Pay safely

  • Only pay on a payment page at hodlchip.com. We never send payment addresses by email, chat, direct message or phone.
  • Every order gets its own deposit address. Never reuse an address from an earlier order or an expired payment.
  • USDT on TRC20 and USDT on ERC20 are not interchangeable. Send on the network you selected.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account to pay in crypto?
No. Check out as a guest with an email address and a shipping address. You can follow your order at Track order with your order number and that email.
How long is my crypto price locked?
For the countdown shown on your payment page: typically up to 60 minutes for Bitcoin and 30 minutes for ETH and USDT. The address is then watched for 30 more minutes, so a payment broadcast a little late is still credited automatically.
Can I pay from an exchange account?
Yes. Withdraw on the network you selected and make sure the full amount shown arrives: many exchanges deduct their fee from the amount sent, and some delay withdrawals.
What happens if the countdown runs out before I pay?
Start a new payment from your order page to get a new rate, a new deposit address and a new countdown. Do not send anything to the expired address.
