Buying dashboards & button boxes at HodlChip

A dashboard puts gear, speed, lap times, delta and shift lights in front of you, as in a real car, so the main screen stays free for the road. Things to check:

  • Software: many dashes run through SimHub, a popular PC telemetry app with ready-made and custom layouts for each game. Some brand dashes work through the brand's own software and wheel base instead.
  • Size and screen: 4- to 5-inch displays mount behind the wheel; 7- to 8-inch screens show more data. Touchscreens let you switch pages without extra buttons.
  • Mounting: dashes attach to the wheel base, the wheel or the rig with brand-specific brackets, so check that the bracket for your setup is included or available.
  • Button boxes: add switches, rotary encoders and toggles for pit limiter, brake bias, lights and wipers when your wheel runs out of buttons.

Most dashboards and button boxes connect to a PC by USB and work on PC only. See steering wheels for wheels with built-in screens, and sim racing accessories for mounts and brackets. The sim racing setup guide shows where a dash fits in your build.

Questions about dashboards & button boxes

What is SimHub?
SimHub is a popular PC app that reads telemetry from racing games and drives dashboards, shift lights and other devices. Many third-party dashes use it, with ready-made and custom layouts for each game.
Do sim racing dashboards work on consoles?
Most do not: they connect to a PC by USB and rely on PC software to read game telemetry. Check the platform support on the product page before ordering.
Will a dash fit my wheel base?
Dashes mount with brand-specific brackets on the base, the wheel or the rig. Check that a bracket for your setup is included or available, and that a wheel-mounted display is supported by your wheel or base.
