Supported coins and networks

Updated October 30, 2026

We accept four combinations of coin and network. The network matters as much as the coin: the same token can exist on several blockchains, and a payment only reaches us if it is sent on the network you selected at checkout.

Accepted coins and networks

Pay withNetworkDeposit address starts withTypical confirmation
BTCBitcoin (on-chain)bc1, 1 or 310–60 minutes
ETHEthereum mainnet0x1–5 minutes
USDTTRON (TRC20)TAbout 1 minute
USDTEthereum mainnet (ERC20)0x1–5 minutes

The prefix is a quick sanity check, not proof. An ETH address and a USDT-ERC20 address look exactly the same, and so do addresses on BNB Smart Chain, Polygon and other Ethereum-compatible networks, so always select the network explicitly.

What we do not accept

  • USDT or ETH on BNB Smart Chain (BEP20), Polygon, Arbitrum, Base or any other network not listed above
  • Bitcoin over the Lightning Network
  • Solana or any other blockchain
  • Any other coin or stablecoin, including USDC
  • Cards and bank transfers
Funds sent on a network or token we do not support may be unrecoverable. If it happens, email support@hodlchip.com immediately with your order number and the transaction ID.

USDT: TRC20 or ERC20?

We accept both. They are the same stablecoin issued on two different blockchains, and they are not interchangeable, so choose the one that matches where your USDT is held.

  • TRC20 (TRON): confirms in about a minute, and withdrawal fees are lower on most exchanges. Sending from your own wallet requires some TRX, the native coin of TRON, to cover the network fee.
  • ERC20 (Ethereum): confirms in 1–5 minutes. Sending from your own wallet requires a little ETH for the network fee, which varies with activity on Ethereum.

Our guide USDT on TRC20 vs ERC20 compares the two in more detail.

Sending from an exchange: four checks

  1. Coin: withdraw the coin you chose at checkout. USDT is not ETH, even on Ethereum.
  2. Network: select Bitcoin, Ethereum (ERC20) or TRON (TRC20) to match your payment page. Exchanges label networks differently; never pick BEP20, Polygon or a layer 2 for an Ethereum payment.
  3. Amount: make sure the amount that arrives equals the amount shown, after the exchange's withdrawal fee.
  4. Address: paste the full address from your payment page and compare the first and last characters.

Some exchanges hold or batch withdrawals. We keep watching your address for 30 minutes after the countdown ends; if your exchange may take longer than that, consider paying from a wallet you control.

Which option should I choose?

  • BTC if you hold bitcoin and do not mind waiting 10–60 minutes for confirmation.
  • ETH if you hold ether on Ethereum mainnet.
  • USDT on TRC20 for the fastest confirmation, typically about one minute.
  • USDT on ERC20 if your USDT is held on Ethereum mainnet.

Whichever you choose, you pay the same price: your USD total, converted at a live rate.

Frequently asked questions

Can I pay with USDT on BNB Smart Chain, Polygon or a layer 2?
No. We accept USDT only on TRON (TRC20) and on Ethereum mainnet (ERC20). Tokens sent on any other network may be unrecoverable.
Do you accept Bitcoin over Lightning?
No. Bitcoin payments must be sent on-chain to the address shown on your payment page.
Which network is cheapest for USDT?
On most exchanges, withdrawing USDT on TRC20 costs less than on ERC20, and it confirms in about a minute. Check the fee your exchange shows before you choose.
I sent funds on the wrong network. What should I do?
Email support@hodlchip.com immediately with your order number and the transaction ID. Funds sent on an unsupported network or token may be unrecoverable, so we cannot promise recovery, but we will check what is technically possible.
