Buying cooling at HodlChip

Cooling decides how quiet your PC runs and whether the CPU and GPU hold their boost clocks under long loads. There are three routes:

  • Air cooling: a good tower cooler handles most gaming CPUs quietly, has no pump to wear out and needs nothing more than dusting. Check its height against your case.
  • AIO liquid coolers: sealed, pre-filled loops with a 240 to 420 mm radiator. They suit hot, high-core-count CPUs and builds with no room for a tall tower.
  • Custom water cooling: separate blocks, radiators, pump, fittings and tubing that cool the CPU and graphics card in one loop. It gives the most freedom and, with enough radiator area, very low noise under load, but it needs planning and maintenance.

Whatever you choose, airflow still matters: case fans bring cool air in and push warm air out, and fresh thermal paste keeps contact efficient. Planning a loop? Start with the custom water cooling guide.

Questions about cooling

Is air cooling or liquid cooling better?
Neither wins everywhere. A large dual-tower air cooler can keep pace with many 240 mm AIOs on gaming CPUs, costs less and has no pump. A 360 mm AIO or a custom loop handles long, heavy loads on high-core-count CPUs more quietly and frees space around the socket.
Will this cooler fit my case?
For air coolers, compare the cooler height with the maximum CPU cooler height of your case. For AIOs, check that the case supports the radiator size where you plan to mount it, including fan thickness. The PC Builder checks air cooler height against your case for you.
How often does a custom water loop need maintenance?
Plan to drain, clean and refill a custom loop every 6 to 12 months with clear coolant, and more often with opaque or pastel coolants. Check the coolant level and color every few months. AIOs are sealed and need no refilling.
