Buying rigs & cockpits at HodlChip

The rig holds your wheel base, pedals and seat in a fixed position, so every input lands the same way every lap. Choose by torque and space:

  • Wheel stands: compact and often foldable, they hold the base and pedals in front of your own chair. Good for gear, belt and lower-torque direct drive bases.
  • Steel tube cockpits: include a seat mount and offer a step up in stiffness at a moderate price.
  • Aluminum profile rigs: modular frames of extruded profile that stay rigid with high-torque direct drive bases and load cell brakes, and extend easily with mounts for shifters, handbrakes, monitors and keyboards.

Rigidity matters most: flex in the wheel deck blurs force feedback, and flex in the pedal plate makes load cell braking inconsistent. Check the mounting patterns for your wheel base and pedals, the adjustment range for your height, and the footprint. For screens, choose a rig-mounted or freestanding monitor stand; a large ultrawide or a triple-screen setup needs a sturdy mount. Questions about rigs & cockpits

Do I need a cockpit, or is a wheel stand enough?
A wheel stand is enough for gear, belt and lower-torque direct drive bases, and it saves space. For high-torque direct drive bases and load cell pedals, an aluminum profile cockpit stays rigid and keeps the seat from moving.
What is an aluminum profile rig?
A modular frame built from extruded aluminum profile, commonly 40 × 80 mm, joined with brackets. It is very stiff, fully adjustable and easy to extend with mounts for shifters, monitors and accessories.
Does the rig include a seat?
It depends on the product, and many rigs are sold without a seat so you can choose your own. Check what is included on the product page, and whether the seat mount fits the seat you want.
