Overview

This 8-core, 16-thread desktop processor uses AMD's Zen 5 architecture with second-generation 3D V-Cache for high gaming performance. It fits socket AM5 motherboards and ships without a cooler.

Architecture and Cache Design

The processor uses eight Zen 5 cores with simultaneous multithreading for 16 threads. Second-generation 3D V-Cache places 96 MB of L3 cache beneath the core chiplet, improving heat dissipation and enabling higher clocks and official overclocking support.

Performance and Power

Base frequency is 4.7 GHz with a maximum boost of 5.2 GHz within a 120 W TDP. Precision Boost 2 adjusts clocks in real time. The design targets high frame rates in demanding games while maintaining energy efficiency.

Platform and Connectivity

Socket AM5 compatibility spans X870E, X670E, and B650E chipsets with a BIOS update. The CPU provides 24 PCIe 5.0 lanes, including 16 for graphics and four for NVMe. The integrated memory controller supports DDR5-5600 dual-channel with ECC.

Integrated Graphics and Packaging

An AMD Radeon Graphics engine with two compute units runs at 2200 MHz for basic display output. The retail box contains the processor only; a separate CPU cooler is required.
