Buying fan accessories at HodlChip

The small parts that make fans fit, run quietly and stay clean:

  • Splitters and hubs: a Y-splitter runs two fans from one header. Hubs powered from SATA run eight or ten fans, which take their speed signal from one motherboard header.
  • Grills and dust filters: grills protect fingers and cables; magnetic filters keep intakes clean and come off for washing. Match the fan size, from 60 to 180 mm.
  • Adapters and frames: mount a 120 mm fan in a 140 mm position or a small fan in a 120 mm mount, and fit fans to large external radiators such as the Watercool MO-RA.
  • Anti-vibration mounts and screws: rubber pads and pins decouple fans from the case. Match the screw length to the fan thickness: 25 mm for standard fans, 15 mm for slim ones.
  • Cables: extensions, and low-noise adapters that cap a fan's speed.

When you split without a powered hub, keep the total current within the header's rating, often 1 A. Use the Type filter to narrow the list. For software-controlled hubs, see fan & RGB controllers; for the fans themselves, see case fans.

Questions about fan accessories

How many fans can share one header?
As many as the header's current rating allows, typically 1 A, which usually means two or three standard 120 mm fans on a splitter. For more, use a hub powered from SATA: the fans then draw power from the power supply and follow the speed signal of one header.
Which screws do I need for my fans?
Fan screws are made for a fan thickness, so use 25 mm screws for standard fans and shorter ones for 15 mm slim fans. Radiators need their own longer screws, usually supplied with the radiator; check its thickness and thread before ordering.
Will a dust filter reduce airflow?
Slightly, but it keeps dust off fans, radiators and heatsinks, which helps temperatures over time. Fine mesh restricts more than coarse mesh, so clean filters regularly and keep slightly more intake than exhaust airflow.
