Choose the layout size first, then the switches:

  • Full-size: includes the number pad, useful for spreadsheets and data entry.
  • TKL (tenkeyless): drops the number pad, leaving more room for your mouse.
  • 75% and 65%: compact layouts that keep the arrow keys; 75% also keeps the function row.

Switches shape the feel. Linear switches are smooth and quiet; tactile switches have a bump you can feel; clicky switches add an audible click. Hall-effect (magnetic) switches let you set the actuation point and use rapid trigger, which resets a key the moment it starts to rise, a feature popular in competitive shooters. Hot-swappable boards let you change switches without soldering.

Which keyboard size should I choose?
Full-size if you use the number pad daily; TKL or 75% for more mouse room while keeping arrow and function keys; 65% for the most compact desk. Smaller layouts reach missing keys through a function layer.
What is rapid trigger?
A feature of Hall-effect keyboards: a key resets as soon as it starts moving up and actuates again as soon as it moves down, instead of at fixed points. It lets you change direction faster in games that use quick key taps.
What is the difference between ANSI and ISO layouts?
ANSI, common in the US, has a wide single-row Enter key and a long left Shift. ISO, common in Europe, has a taller Enter key and an extra key beside a shorter left Shift. Check the layout in the product specifications before ordering.
