Buying peripherals at HodlChip

Peripherals are what you touch, hear and see every day, so comfort and fit matter as much as specifications:

  • Keyboards: choose a layout size (full, TKL, 75% or 65%), a switch type and a connection. Hall-effect keyboards add adjustable actuation and rapid trigger for competitive games.
  • Mice: shape and weight first, sensor second. Current 2.4 GHz wireless gaming mice have latency close to wired models.
  • Mouse pads: speed or control surfaces, sized for low or high sensitivity.
  • Controllers: check platform support; Hall-effect sticks resist drift.
  • Audio and video: headsets, microphones, speakers, sound cards, webcams and capture cards for calls, gaming and content creation.
  • Chargers and power banks: GaN USB-C chargers and power banks for phones, laptops and handhelds.

For wireless gear, a 2.4 GHz dongle gives the lowest latency for gaming, while Bluetooth suits laptops, tablets and travel; many devices support both. Check the software too: features such as macros, lighting and polling rates above 1,000 Hz often need the manufacturer's app, which may run only on Windows.

Questions about peripherals

Is wireless good enough for competitive gaming?
Yes, over a 2.4 GHz connection: current gaming mice and keyboards with a dedicated dongle have latency close to wired models. Bluetooth adds latency and is better suited to office work and travel.
What is a Hall-effect keyboard?
A Hall-effect (magnetic) keyboard measures key position with magnets and sensors instead of metal contacts. You can set the actuation point per key, and rapid trigger resets a key as soon as it starts to rise, which helps in fast games.
Do peripherals work on Mac and consoles?
Most keyboards, mice and USB headsets work on macOS, but configuration apps may be Windows-only. For consoles, check the product page or the Platform filter in controllers: wireless headsets and controllers often need a version made for that console.
