Buying sleeved cables & psu cables at HodlChip

Sleeving your own cables gives a show build exact lengths and colors that no ready-made kit offers. What you need:

  • Sleeve: sold by the meter in several sizes and many solid, carbon and UV-reactive colors. Single power supply wires take the smallest size; thicker cables and bundles need larger ones.
  • Heat shrink and contacts: heat shrink finishes the sleeve ends cleanly at each connector, and fresh crimp contacts help when you rebuild a cable.
  • Cable combs: keep sleeved wires straight and evenly spaced, with slot counts for 24-pin, 8-pin and 12V-2x6 cables.
  • Cable management: Velcro straps and rolls, cable ties, spiral wrap and braided sleeve for desks and the space behind the motherboard tray.
  • PSU adapters: SFX-to-ATX brackets and anti-vibration frames for power supplies.

Re-pinning PSU cables means working with the power supply's own pinout: never swap pins between connectors without a diagram, and check every cable with a multimeter before connecting hardware. For ready-made sleeved extensions and full PSU cable kits, see cables & adapters; pin removers and tools are in tools & maintenance.

Questions about sleeved cables & psu cables

Which sleeve size do I need?
Use the smallest size that slides over your wire: single power supply wires take the smallest sleeve, while thicker cables and bundles need larger sizes. The size guide on the product page lists the wires each size fits.
How much sleeve do I need for a full PSU cable set?
Add up the length of every wire, not every cable, since a 24-pin cable has 24 wires. Add a few centimeters per wire for the ends, then order 10 to 20 percent extra for mistakes and practice.
Do I need heat shrink?
Not always. Heat shrink gives a clean, durable finish at the connector, while shrinkless methods tuck the sleeve end into the connector instead. Both work; heat shrink is the more forgiving method for a first cable set.
