Overview

This aluminum tool removes the heat spreader from Intel LGA1700 processors. It supports 12th, 13th, and 14th Gen Core CPUs for direct die mounting.

Purpose and Compatibility

The tool separates the integrated heat spreader from the CPU die on socket LGA1700 processors. It works with 12th, 13th, and 14th Generation Intel Core chips. Because these generations use soldered IHS designs, the tool is intended for direct die cooling rather than TIM replacement.

Direct Die Cooling Benefit

Mounting a cooler directly on the die eliminates the heat spreader from the thermal path. Testing with an i9-13900K showed temperature reductions of 10 to 15 Celsius when using liquid metal thermal interface material.

Build and Materials

The body is machined from anodized aluminum. The primary finish is black with red accents. This construction provides the rigidity needed for safe delidding.
