Helium-Sealed Construction

The drive replaces air with helium, which is one-seventh the density. This reduces internal turbulence, lowers operating temperature by several degrees, and drops power consumption to 5.8 watts during reads and writes.

NAS-Optimized Performance

NASware 3.0 firmware improves compatibility with multi-bay enclosures and RAID controllers. The 3D Active Balance Plus system balances platters in two planes to limit vibration in dense chassis.

Reliability Metrics

Rated at 2.5 million hours MTBF for continuous operation. The 256 MB cache and 7200 RPM spindle sustain a 217 MB/s maximum transfer rate across the SATA 6 Gb/s interface.
