Buying cooler mounts & accessories at HodlChip
Moving to a new socket often needs only a new mounting kit, not a new cooler. What you will find here:
- Mounting kits: brackets and screws that let an existing cooler fit AM5, AM4, LGA 1851, LGA 1700 or sTR5. Kits are made for specific cooler models, so match both the socket and the cooler.
- Contact frames: replace the stock retention bracket and spread the clamping pressure more evenly. On LGA 1700 and LGA 1851 this can reduce bending and improve cooler contact; AM5 frames also keep thermal paste out of the heatspreader cut-outs.
- Covers and ducts: colored or black heatsink covers, and air ducts that direct a cooler's airflow.
- Direct-die frames and backplates: for delidded CPUs and custom mounting, aimed at experienced builders.
Before ordering, check your cooler maker's compatibility list. AM5 keeps the AM4 hole spacing, so coolers that use the stock AM4 backplate usually fit, and LGA 1851 uses the LGA 1700 mounting. Replacing the retention bracket may affect the motherboard warranty, so read the maker's notes first. Use fresh thermal paste whenever you remount. Questions about cooler mounts & accessories
Do I need a new mounting kit for AM5 or LGA 1851?
Often not. AM5 keeps the AM4 hole spacing, so coolers that use the stock AM4 backplate usually fit, and LGA 1851 uses the LGA 1700 mounting. Coolers made for LGA 115x or LGA 1200 need an LGA 1700 kit from the cooler maker.
What does a contact frame do?
It replaces the socket's stock retention bracket and spreads the clamping force more evenly across the CPU. On LGA 1700 and LGA 1851 this can reduce bending of the heatspreader and improve cooler contact. Fitting one means removing the original bracket, which may affect the motherboard warranty.
Will this mounting kit fit my cooler?
Only if it is listed for your cooler model, since kits are made for specific coolers and sockets. Check the product page and the cooler maker's compatibility list, and email support@hodlchip.com if your model is not listed.
