Overview

A dynamic cardioid microphone built for broadcast, podcast, and music recording. It delivers a smooth, flat frequency response with advanced hum rejection and internal shock isolation.

Design and Build

The microphone features a rugged all-metal construction weighing 766 grams. An improved yoke mounting bracket with a captive stand nut allows precise positioning and easy removal. Internal air-suspension shock isolation virtually eliminates mechanical noise transmission through the stand.

Audio Performance

A flat, wide-range frequency response of 50 Hz to 20 kHz ensures natural reproduction of music and speech. The classic cardioid pattern provides maximum off-axis rejection with minimal coloration. Selectable bass rolloff and mid-range presence boost controls tailor the response for specific applications.

Noise Rejection

Advanced electromagnetic shielding rejects broadband interference from computer monitors and lighting. A highly effective internal pop filter eliminates explosive breath sounds without external accessories. The included A7WS windscreen further reduces plosives and adds warmth for close-talk vocals.

Connectivity and Contents

The microphone connects via a standard XLR connector and requires an external preamplifier. No USB sound card or cable is included. The package contains the SM7B microphone, a standard windscreen, the A7WS windscreen, and the yoke mounting bracket. A replacement cartridge is available as model RPM106.
