Overview

This USB-C to 2.5GbE adapter adds a high-speed RJ45 port to laptops and desktops. It works with Windows, macOS, and Linux without extra drivers.

Performance and Standards

The adapter connects via USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5 Gbps) and provides 2.5GBase-T Ethernet speeds up to 2,500 Mbps. It auto-negotiates 10/100/1000/2500 Mbps and works with standard Cat 5e or Cat 6 cables up to 100 meters. Features include TCP large send offload, IPv4/IPv6 checksum offload, IEEE 802.3az EEE, and IEEE 802.1Q VLAN support.

Design and Build

An aluminum shell protects the Realtek RTL8156B controller and dissipates heat without a fan. The unit measures 64 x 24 x 14 mm and weighs 26 grams including the 15 cm fixed USB-C cable. Two LEDs show link status and network activity.

Compatibility and Power Management

Supports Windows 7 through 11 and Server 2008 through 2022, macOS 10.6+, and Linux kernel 2.6.14+. CDC-ECM enables automatic driver installation on modern systems. Advanced power features include ACPI, AOAC, Intel CPPM, Link Power Management, and proxy support for sleeping hosts via ECMA-393.
