Overview

The NH-U12A chromax.black is a 120mm single-tower CPU cooler with dual NF-A12x25 PWM fans and a black-coated heatsink. It fits Intel LGA1700/1851 and AMD AM4/AM5 sockets with full RAM clearance.

Design and Compatibility

The asymmetrical single-tower heatsink stands 158mm tall and measures 125mm wide with fans installed. This layout provides 100% RAM clearance on LGA1700, LGA1851, AM4, and AM5 platforms while clearing the top PCIe slot on standard ATX and micro-ATX motherboards. The all-black finish covers the nickel-plated aluminum fins, copper heatpipes, fan frames, rotors, anti-vibration pads, clips, and mounting hardware.

Performance and Acoustics

Seven heatpipes and a revised fin stack deliver cooling capacity that matches many 140mm coolers. Two NF-A12x25 PWM fans operate between 450 and 2000 RPM, moving up to 60 m³/h each at a maximum of 22.6 dB(A). Included Low-Noise Adaptors limit speed to 1700 RPM for quieter operation. The fans connect via 4-pin PWM headers for automatic motherboard control.

Mounting and Socket Support

The SecuFirm2 multi-socket system supports Intel LGA115x, LGA1200, LGA1700, LGA1851, LGA2011, LGA2066 and AMD AM2+, AM3+, AM4, AM5, FM1, FM2+. Offset mounting bars for AM5 shift the cooler 7mm toward the CCD hotspot, typically lowering temperatures by 1 to 3°C. Free upgrade kits are available for older LGA1366 and LGA775 sockets.

The package contains the heatsink with pre-installed black fan clips, two NF-A12x25 PWM chromax.black fans, two Low-Noise Adaptors, a 4-pin Y-cable for dual-fan connection, SecuFirm2 mounting hardware for all supported sockets, AM5 offset mounting bars, a tube of NT-H1 thermal compound, a cleaning wipe, and a screwdriver.
