Overview

This USB 2.0 to SATA adapter connects 2.5-inch SSDs or HDDs to a computer. It includes a protective case and foam pads for mobile use.

Design and Portability

The adapter measures 70 x 21 x 11 mm and weighs 17 grams with its fixed 20 cm USB Type-A cable. A plastic case holds a 2.5-inch drive up to 9.5 mm thick with the adapter attached. Foam pads secure thinner 7 mm drives. The case also stores the adapter alone with the cable tucked inside.

Performance and Compatibility

The USB 2.0 link caps throughput at 480 Mbit/s. The SATA bridge supports SATA 6 Gb/s, 3 Gb/s, and 1.5 Gb/s drives. It works with all capacities and enables boot support, SMART monitoring, hot-plug, and automatic spindown. No drivers are required for Windows XP and later, macOS 10.x+, or Linux kernel 2.6+.

Features and Operation

A blue LED shows power and blinks during data transfer. Power comes entirely from the USB bus. The adapter is fully plug-and-play with backward compatibility to USB 1.1. Auto-stop turns the drive off when the host system spins down.
