Overview

The AXAGON EEM2-SD2 is a USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 enclosure for M.2 NVMe and SATA SSDs up to 80mm. It features a real-time LED display, aluminum cooling, and tool-free installation.

Drive Compatibility

Accepts M-key and B+M-key M.2 SSDs in 2242, 2260, and 2280 sizes. Both NVMe PCIe and SATA AHCI protocols are supported with no capacity limit. Single-sided and double-sided modules fit without modification.

LED Monitoring Display

The built-in display cycles through drive recognition, file system details, real-time temperature graph, S.M.A.R.T. health, read/write speed, total data written, power-on hours, and sleep status. Blue LED indicates link and activity.

Performance and Interface

USB 3.2 Gen 2 delivers up to 10 Gbps theoretical bandwidth with real-world throughput around 1000 MB/s. Supports UASP, TRIM, S.M.A.R.T. pass-through, hot plug, and boot from external SSD. Backward compatible with USB 5 Gbps and forward compatible with USB 20 Gbps, USB4, and Thunderbolt 3/4/5 hosts.

Build and Cooling

Gray anodized aluminum shell acts as a heatsink paired with an included thermal pad. Screwless sliding cover allows tool-free drive installation. Dimensions are 96 x 42 x 12 mm and weight is 46 grams without drive or cables. Bus-powered up to 900 mA.
