Overview

This 64-core Zen 5 processor targets professional workstations. It delivers 128 threads, high clock speeds, and massive I/O for heavy compute workloads.

Architecture and Core Design

The chip uses the Zen 5 microarchitecture built on a 4 nm FinFET process for the CPU cores. It provides 64 physical cores and 128 threads through simultaneous multithreading. Precision Boost Overdrive pushes single-core speeds up to 5.4 GHz within the 350 W thermal envelope.

Cache and Memory Subsystem

A unified cache hierarchy totals 320 MB across L2 and L3, managed by Smart-Fetch algorithms for low-latency access. The integrated memory controller runs eight channels of DDR5 RDIMM with ECC at speeds up to 6400 MT/s, supporting up to 2 TB of system memory.

Platform Connectivity

The sTR5 socket exposes 128 lanes of PCIe 5.0 when paired with a WRX90 chipset. This bandwidth accommodates multiple GPUs, high-speed storage arrays, and networking cards without contention. No integrated graphics are present.

This boxed retail package includes the 64-core Threadripper Pro 9985WX processor only; no CPU cooler is supplied. A compatible sTR5 cooler rated for the 350 W TDP must be purchased separately. AMD provides a three-year manufacturer warranty.
