Overview

A pocket-sized USB 2.0 Type A to RJ45 adapter that adds a 10/100 Mbps wired network port to laptops, desktops, and select Android devices. Works driver-free on modern Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Design and Build

The adapter measures 72 by 27 by 16.5 millimeters and weighs 23 grams including its 5 centimeter attached cable. A USB 2.0 Type A male plug connects directly to the host. Three LEDs indicate link speed, activity, and USB connection status. No external power supply is required.

Performance and Standards

The RJ45 port complies with IEEE 802.3 10Base-T and 802.3u 100Base-TX with auto MDI/MDIX crossover correction. Hardware features include IPv4/IPv6 checksum offload, TCP large send offload, VLAN tagging (802.1Q), priority encoding (802.1P), and CRC error detection. Energy Efficient Ethernet (802.3az) reduces idle power draw.

Compatibility and Wake Features

Supports Windows XP through 11, Windows Server 2003 onward, macOS 10.6+, Linux kernel 2.6+, and many Android versions. CDC-ECM enables automatic driver installation on modern systems. Wake-on-LAN works with Magic Packet, Wakeup Frame, Link Change, and the ECMA-393 proxZzzy proxy standard for remote wake over the internet.
