Overview

This adapter fits a 9.5mm laptop optical drive bay and accepts a 2.5-inch SATA SSD or HDD up to 9.5mm thick. It suits users adding storage or a boot drive to older notebooks.

Design and Build

The aluminum frame matches the dimensions of a slim 5.25-inch optical drive. Metal springs secure the adapter in the bay. A rubber spacer and plugs hold the drive without screws and dampen vibration. An integrated LED shows power and activity.

Performance and Compatibility

The SATA 6 Gb/s interface works with SATA III, II, and I drives. It passes through TRIM and other features without added latency. A dual-position switch sets pinout for Lenovo, HP, Dell, Asus, Acer, Sony, Toshiba, and other brands. The adapter draws power from the 6-pin Slim SATA connector and includes a capacitor for stable voltage.

Installation and Contents

Remove the optical drive, attach the faceplate, insert the storage drive, and slide the assembly into the bay. The package includes the adapter, four rubber plugs, a plastic pry bar, a screwdriver, the front faceplate, and a printed manual in multiple languages.
