Overview

The NA-FD1 is a modular air duct kit designed for Noctua NH-L9 series coolers in small form factor builds. It bridges the gap between the cooler and a perforated panel to draw fresh outside air.

Design and Compatibility

The kit uses seven EVA foam spacers ranging from 3mm to 10mm thick. They stack to bridge gaps between 5mm and 45mm in precise 1mm steps. It fits NH-L9i and NH-L9a models including chromax.black and 17xx versions. It does not support NH-L9x65 coolers.

Performance and Acoustics

By channeling outside air through a perforated panel, the duct prevents hot interior air recirculation. This can lower CPU temperatures by 5°C or more in tight ITX builds. The added breathing space also eliminates high-pitched turbulence noise common with taller coolers pressed against panels.

Installation and Use

Measure the gap, select the required spacers, and swap the fan screws for the included bolts. Attach the plastic tubes, add the foam stack, and trim tubes to length. The spacers are reusable for future case changes or hardware upgrades.
