To buy PC hardware with Bitcoin, add your parts to the cart, choose BTC at checkout (or ETH, or USDT on TRC20 or ERC20), and send the exact amount shown on the payment page to the one-time address it displays. Once the transaction has enough network confirmations, typically 10 to 60 minutes for Bitcoin, the order is confirmed automatically, and in-stock items ship within 1 to 2 business days. This guide covers each step, what the network fees look like, and the mistakes behind most crypto payment problems.
What you can buy with Bitcoin at HodlChip
Every product in the catalog is priced in US dollars and payable in crypto, from a single cable to a complete workstation: graphics cards, processors, motherboards, memory, NVMe SSDs, power supplies, workstation PCs, laptops and monitors, plus cooling, cases and sim racing gear. Everything is new, genuine and sealed, sourced from manufacturers and authorized distributors.
Planning a complete build? Check compatibility in the PC Builder, then read our guides to graphics cards, processors, memory, SSDs, power supplies and monitors. One order is also cheaper to pay for than several: you pay one network fee instead of five, and orders of $300 or more ship free within the EU.
Bitcoin, ETH or USDT: which coin and network to use
HodlChip accepts four payment options. The price is set in USD; the crypto amount is calculated when you open the payment page and held for the countdown shown there.
| Option | Network | Typical confirmation | Quote held (typical) | Your wallet also needs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bitcoin (BTC) | Bitcoin on-chain | 10–60 min | Up to 60 min | BTC for the miner fee |
| Ether (ETH) | Ethereum mainnet | 1–5 min | 30 min | ETH for gas |
| USDT (TRC20) | TRON | About 1 min | 30 min | TRX or staked energy for the fee |
| USDT (ERC20) | Ethereum mainnet | 1–5 min | 30 min | ETH for gas |
The simplest rule is to pay with what you already hold. If your savings are in Bitcoin, paying in BTC avoids a trading fee and spread. If you think in dollars, USDT keeps things simple: you send the price in a dollar stablecoin, and a refund comes back in the same token. Our USDT TRC20 vs ERC20 guide compares the two USDT networks, and the pages for paying with Bitcoin, Ethereum and USDT summarize each option. Lightning, wrapped tokens and other chains such as BNB Chain, Polygon, Arbitrum, Base or Solana are not accepted.
Step by step: paying for PC parts with Bitcoin
- Check out as a guest. No account is needed. Enter an email address for order and shipping updates and a shipping address; a phone number is optional and is passed only to the carrier.
- Choose the coin and the network. Pick BTC, ETH, USDT (TRC20) or USDT (ERC20). Choose the network your wallet or exchange will actually send on, not just the coin.
- Open the payment page. It shows the exact crypto amount, a fresh deposit address created for this order only, a QR code and a countdown. Your order number starts with HC- followed by six characters; keep it for any support request.
- Send the payment. Scan the QR code or paste the address, then compare the first and last characters on your wallet's confirmation screen with the payment page. Enter the amount exactly as shown, with the network fee added on top rather than taken out of it.
- Wait for confirmations. The payment page updates on its own: it detects the transaction and marks the order as paid once the required network confirmations are in. Order updates are also sent to your email address.
- Track your parcel. A tracking link arrives by email when the order ships, and you can follow it on the order tracking page with your order number and email address.
Network fees: who pays and how to send the right amount
Network fees are paid by the sender, and the amount that arrives at the deposit address must match the amount on the payment page. That sounds obvious, but fee handling is a common reason a payment arrives short.
- Bitcoin: the miner fee depends on how busy the network is and on the fee rate you choose, in satoshis per virtual byte. It scales with the size of the transaction, not its value, so paying for a $3,000 build costs about the same as paying for a $30 cable. Pick a rate aimed at the next few blocks: a rock-bottom fee can leave a transaction waiting for hours.
- ETH and USDT on ERC20: gas is paid in ETH. A token transfer uses more gas than a plain ETH transfer, so keep some ETH in the wallet that holds your USDT.
- USDT on TRC20: TRON fees are paid in TRX or covered by staked energy and bandwidth. Most wallets cannot send USDT from an address that holds no TRX.
- Exchange withdrawals: when you withdraw from an exchange straight to the payment address, many exchanges subtract their withdrawal fee from the amount you type. Add the fee on top so the full amount arrives.
How long Bitcoin and USDT payments take to confirm
Bitcoin produces a block every ten minutes on average, but the interval varies, and a low-fee transaction may wait several blocks before a miner includes it. That is why BTC payments typically take 10 to 60 minutes to confirm, while ETH and USDT on ERC20 usually take 1 to 5 minutes and USDT on TRC20 about a minute.
The quoted amount is held for the countdown shown on the payment page. The address keeps being watched for 30 minutes after the countdown ends, so a payment broadcast a little late is still credited automatically. Once the payment is confirmed, in-stock items ship within 1–2 business days by the method you chose:
| Destination | Carrier | Delivery time | Standard shipping |
|---|---|---|---|
| Germany | DHL Paket, or TNT Express | 1–2 business days | $5.90, free from $150 |
| Rest of the EU | DHL Parcel International, or TNT Express | 2–8 business days | $11.90 to $15.90, free from $300 |
| UK, Switzerland, Norway | DHL Parcel International, or DHL Express | 3–7 business days | $24.90, free from $500 |
| US, Canada, Asia, Middle East, Oceania | DHL Express | 2–6 business days | $39.90 to $59.90 |
Backorder and pre-order items show their expected date on the product page, and mixed orders ship together unless you ask otherwise. Every rate, including large and furniture-size items, is on our shipping page. Within the EU there are no customs; elsewhere, import duties and local taxes are not included in prices and may be collected by the carrier; see customs and duties.
What happens if a payment goes wrong
Most problems can be fixed if you act quickly and keep the transaction ID (TXID), which your wallet or exchange shows for every transfer.
| Situation | What happens | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Underpaid, often an exchange fee | The payment page shows the remaining amount | Send exactly the remainder to the same address, in the same coin and network, while it is still watched |
| Overpaid | The order goes through | Email support to request the difference, refunded minus the network fee |
| Sent shortly after the countdown | The address is watched for 30 more minutes | Nothing: the payment is credited automatically |
| Countdown expired, nothing sent | The quote lapses | Start a new payment from the order page, with a new rate and a new address |
| Wrong network or token | Funds may be unrecoverable | Email support immediately with the transaction ID |

Mistakes to avoid when you buy hardware with crypto
- Sending USDT on the wrong chain. USDT exists on many networks, but HodlChip accepts it only on TRC20 and ERC20. USDT sent on BNB Chain to an ERC20 address, for example, may be lost for good. Check the network field on the withdrawal screen, not just the token name.
- Reusing an old address. Every order and every new payment attempt gets a fresh deposit address. Never pay to an address saved in your wallet's address book or copied from an earlier order.
- Trusting an address sent by message. Payment addresses only ever appear on hodlchip.com payment pages, never by email, chat, DM or phone. Anyone sending you an address for your order is attempting fraud: report it to support@hodlchip.com with the subject "Phishing".
- Skipping the address check. Clipboard malware can swap a copied address for an attacker's, so check it on your wallet's screen, ideally a hardware wallet's display, before you sign.
- Leaving a low-fee transaction stuck. If a Bitcoin payment is stuck and your wallet supports Replace-by-Fee, raise the fee. If the countdown and the 30-minute watch window have both passed, email support with the TXID before sending anything else.
Security and privacy when paying with crypto
Paying on-chain is not anonymous: Bitcoin and Ethereum transactions are public, and exchange withdrawals are tied to your verified account. What a HodlChip checkout does offer is less personal data in fewer places: an email address, a shipping address and an optional phone number, no tracking cookies, analytics trackers or ad pixels, and data shared only with the carrier for delivery.
- Discreet packaging: parcels ship tracked in unbranded boxes with no crypto or brand references, which matters when the box holds an expensive graphics card.
- One official domain: HodlChip operates only at hodlchip.com. Bookmark it, and be wary of lookalike domains in ads and search results.
- Nobody needs your seed: HodlChip staff never ask for a seed phrase, private key or remote access to your computer. See our phishing protection tips.
Refunds, returns and warranty on crypto orders
Paying in crypto does not mean giving up buyer protection. Unused items in their original packaging can be returned within 30 days (return shipping is on you unless the item is faulty), and items that arrive dead or damaged in transit should be reported within 14 days with photos for a replacement or full refund. Every product carries the full manufacturer warranty, and for the first 12 months HodlChip handles the warranty claim with the manufacturer for you. EU customers also have a 14-day right of withdrawal.
Refunds are paid in the same coin and on the same network you paid with, to an address you provide by email, for the USD amount due, converted at the rate on the day of the refund. A USDT refund therefore returns roughly the tokens you sent, while a BTC or ETH refund matches the dollar amount rather than the coin amount. Details: returns, refunds and warranty.
