Overview

This PCIe 2.0 x1 card adds one DB25 parallel port and two DB9 serial ports to a desktop PC. It fits standard and low-profile cases and uses the ASIX AX99100 chipset.

Design and Installation

The card uses a single-lane PCIe 2.0 connector compatible with larger slots. A DB25 parallel connector mounts directly on the board. Two DB9 serial connectors sit on a separate bracket linked by a cable. Both standard-height and low-profile brackets are supplied for case flexibility.

Performance and Compatibility

The ASIX AX99100 chipset provides 256-byte transmit and receive FIFO buffers for each port. Serial ports support baud rates up to 250 kBd and 16C550/16C950 UART compatibility. Parallel port handles SPP, BYTE, and ECP modes. ESD protection exceeds ±15 kV air gap and ±8 kV contact discharge.

Supported Devices and Configuration

Parallel port connects printers, plotters, scanners, hardware keys, or EPROM programmers. Serial ports work with ATMs, cash registers, barcode readers, CNC machines, modems, POS terminals, and PDAs. Plug-and-play assigns IRQ and I/O automatically. Advanced settings include custom baud rates, 9-bit data, word length, parity, stop bits, and flow control.

Operating System Support

Drivers cover Windows XP through Windows 11 and Windows Server 2003 onward, all 32-bit and 64-bit editions. Linux kernels 2.6.11 and newer are supported.
