Overview

This PCIe 4.0 x1 adapter adds four external USB 3.0 Type-A ports to a desktop PC. It draws auxiliary power from a SATA connector and works without driver installation on supported operating systems.

Design and Installation

The card fits a single PCIe x1 slot and is compatible with PCIe 4.0, 3.0, 2.1, 1.1, and 1.0a. A SATA power cable from the power supply must be connected for operation. The board is black and the four external USB ports use blue inserts.

Performance and Use

Each port supports USB 3.0 transfer rates up to 5 Gbps. The Renesas PD720201 chipset manages the four channels. No driver installation is required on Windows XP through Windows 11 or on Linux systems running kernel 2.6.31 or newer.
