Overview

This PCIe 3.0 x4 adapter adds an M.2 NVMe slot to desktops lacking one. It fits drives up to 2280 and requires no external power.

Design and Build

The compact card measures 102 by 49 by 8 millimeters and weighs 35 grams. A standard bracket comes pre-installed and a low-profile bracket is included for small form factor cases. Copper-plated vents and a thermal pad dissipate heat from the SSD without a fan.

Performance and Compatibility

The four-lane PCIe 3.0 connection delivers up to 8 GB/s bidirectional bandwidth. The M-key slot accepts single-sided and double-sided NVMe drives up to 2280 length with no capacity limit. The card works in x4, x8, or x16 slots and is backward compatible with PCIe 1.0a through 2.1.

Features

Plug-and-play operation requires no driver installation. An LED indicates link status and data activity. The adapter draws power directly from the PCIe slot so no extra cables are needed. Booting from the installed NVMe drive is supported.
